Concrete Shop Employee

Job Location: 

Concrete shop employee:  This is a staff position within Foster Supply, Inc.  The Concrete Shop Employee assists in manufacturing Retaining wall block and other poured concrete projects.  The Concrete Shop Employee reports directly to the Concrete Shop Foreman.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary functional duties and responsibilities of the Concrete Shop Employee include:

  • Keep the Concrete Shop Foreman apprised of all Concrete Shop production activities
  • Assist in performing preventive maintenance and safety checks on all equipment as required; keep the Redi-Rock Foreman informed of any equipment requiring outside service
  • Be at work on time, as scheduled, and work diligently to keep production moving to meet or exceed target “Unit Per Man Hour” targets
  • Fairly and consistently apply Company and personnel policies
  • Shop must be kept clean and organized
  • Inventory must be kept organized correctly
  • Ensure all customers are satisfied with the quality of our work and the overall company experience
  • Enforce the Company’s safety policies
  • Recommend measures to improve production efficiency, product quality, and safety
  • Work through with shop foreman
  • Other duties and tasks as may be assigned by the Concrete Shop Foreman

MEASURES OF PERFORMANCE

  • The Concrete Shop Employee shall be deemed to be performing in an acceptable manner when the following have been accomplished:
  • The Concrete Shop Foreman is kept apprised of Concrete Shop production activities at the location
  • Concrete Shop production maintains an average of 90% productivity or better
  • Concrete Shop “Units Per Man Hour” goals are met or exceeded each month
  • Shop equipment and machinery is properly maintained to schedule to avoid unplanned major maintenance
  • The Concrete Shop is kept clean and clear of debris
  • There are no employee accidents in the Concrete Shop
  • Company and personnel policies are fairly and consistently applied
  • Measures are researched and recommended to improve departmental efficiency, product quality, and safety
  • Subjectively, by the morale of the employees (relating to the performance of the Concrete Shop Employee) within the company
  • Other tasks assigned by the Concrete Shop Foreman are performed in an accurate, complete, and timely manner

Delivery Driver

Delivery Driver:  This is a staff position within Foster Supply, Inc.  The Delivery Driver takes delivers products to customers and assists in loading and unloading trucks.  This employee is responsible for ensuring customer loads are filled accurately and loaded securely to prevent product loss.  The Delivery Driver reports directly to the Assistant Yard Supervisor.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary functional duties and responsibilities of the Delivery Driver include:

Keep the Assistant Yard Supervisor apprised of all Yard activities

Be active in the unloading process.  Ask to be unloaded quickly and efficiently

Get trucks loaded safety in the lease amount of time possible and get route to customer

Show up at assigned time and be onsite at time assigned time

Drive trucks to the destination in a safe and timely manner

Call and notify office when finished with load

Assist in training new Delivery Drivers in company operating standards

Perform assigned yard tasks without congregating with other employees, when no yard work is required log out and go home

Assist in performing preventive maintenance and safety checks on all equipment as required; keep the Assistant Yard Supervisor informed of any equipment requiring outside service

Avoid distracting employees in other departments with idle chat

Ensure all customers are satisfied with the quality of our work and the overall company experience

Ensure products are adequately protected during shipment and arrive to their destination in like-new condition

Be an active participant in loading process, avoid standing around and watching during loading

Assist with loading and unloading trucks in an efficient manner

Have loads tied down during loading and as quickly as possible

Pick up items from suppliers or customers as required upon          completion of load

Ensure delivery paperwork for the load being delivered is correct and signed paperwork is returned upon return to the yard

Collect payment for goods delivered and delivery charges as required

Maintain the truck log according to state and federal guidelines

Perform emergency roadside repairs such as changing tires, installing light bulbs, and replacing spark plugs

Maintain truck cleanliness

Assist in enforcing the Company’s safety policies

Recommended measures to improve production efficiency, product quality, and safety

Other duties and tasks as may be assigned by the Assistant Yard Supervisor

MEASURES OF PERFORMANCE

The Delivery Driver shall be deemed to be performing in an acceptable manner when the following have been accomplished:

The Assistant Yard Supervisor is kept apprised of activities in the company

Number of days late for work or not present when scheduled

Time required to load trucks

Time required to unload trucks

Number of people around truck during loading process\

Amount of time required to complete load tie downs

Attitude and proficiency of assigned yard tasks

Trucks are properly maintained to schedule to avoid unplanned major maintenance

Amount of idle time spent on the yard

The Yard is kept clean and clear of debris

Amount of idle chatter with other employees

The Delivery Driver does not have any accidents and passes all D.O.T. and other inspections

The Delivery Driver maintains a safe driving record both on and off the clock—the employee does not incur any traffic violations such as speeding, reckless operation, or any other infraction that would impact the company’s ability to maintain low insurance costs

Trucks are operated at a better than company average in regards to miles per gallon, miles per man hour, and hours per delivery

Promptness in showing for work and on-time deliveries

Measures are researched and recommended to improve departmental efficiency, product quality, and safety

Subjectively, by the morale of the employees (relating to the performance of the Delivery Driver) within the company

Provide exceptional customer service to customers in the yard and always look for additional selling opportunities for additional sales

Assist in performing preventive maintenance and safety checks on all equipment as required; keep the Yard Supervisor informed of any equipment requiring outside service

Weed eat, trim and mow grass areas and banks

Ensure all customers are satisfied with the quality of our work and the overall company experience

Assist in enforcing the Company’s safety policies

Perforate pipe as required, preassemble mine riser for AML work

Recommended measures to improve production efficiency, product quality, and safety

Cleanliness and appearance of the yard free of weeds and overgrown grass

The Yard is kept clean and clear of debris

Number of people utilized to load each truck

Items are stocked in their designated places and the warehouse is kept clean and organized

Amount of time required to complete load tie down after load is complete

Inventory shrink is kept below .5% of construction material sales

Time required to perforate special pipe orders

Time required to build mine risers and AML program

There are no employee accidents in the Yard

Measures are researched and recommended to improve departmental efficiency, product quality, and safety

Subjectively, by the morale of the employees (relating to the performance of the Yard Employee) within the company
